The territory includes the beautiful plain of the Umbrian Valley, gentle hills and the spurs of the Apennine ridge. The region is typical for spreading around the valley. However, with the exception of Foligno and Bevagna, the other villages have been built on top at strategic positions, from which the control of the valley or the connecting roads to the Adriatic sea, could e easily controlled. At the extreme west of the region we find indeed the castle of Gualdo Cattaneo and, in a dominant pacement Montefalco, a bit more at north Spello and at the east Trevi. The District, with its Communes, combines a precious historical-artistic heritage with the beauty of an unspoilt countryside and the characteristic of a unique landscape. The array of natural resources is equally rich, in particular as far as rivers, mineral water springs and underground water are concerned.
