Costa Rei is a seaside country ward of Muravera characterised by a beach of fine, white sand extending for a distance of about 10 km featuring cliffs and small, isolated coves. Costa Rei is the tourist destination choice of all those who love to dive and windsurf, thanks to the more or less constant wind and the crystal-clear depths of the seabed which give the seawater its unique colours, ranging from shades of green and turquoise until reaching the deepest blue.
The most well known beaches are the one of the same name which runs beside the whole of the town, (reached by the famous via Ichnusa road) the beach of Cala Piraquella, of Capo Ferrato, of Cala Sinizias and that of Porto Pirastu. Furthermore, from Costa Rei it is possible to reach the most beautiful beaches on Sardinia's south eastern coast: Colostrai, San Giovanni, Santa Giusta, Solanas, Villasimius and the Serpentara Marine Park. Costa Rei does not only offer the sea, there also being the possibility of going for excursions on horseback in the lush surrounding countryside. In the area, there are ancient archaeological testimonies such as the megalithic complex of "Piscina Rei" dating back to the Neolithic period with its 22 menhir stones in their original vertical position and the "Nuraghe Scalas" complex with 42 menhir stones arranged in groups, two of which are anthropomorphic in form.
The particular beauty of Costa Rei is completed by the presence of three piazzas (Piazza Rei Marina, Piazza Italia, Piazza Sardegna), animated with entertainment for tourists in the summer evenings.
